FOR SALE: Fall 2009 3/4 Charolais 1/4 Hereford Bred Cow

Bred to Windy Acres Excaliber for Jan 2, 2019 calf (confirmed bred by Biopryn). Calf will qualify for registration.

Current on shots, wormed, full mouth, weaned from fall heifer and ready to make some beautiful 50% registered calves for another family.

This cow has produced 5 heifers and 1 bull calf for us.  She had her first calf at 2 years old and with BW of 92 lbs (unassisted).

Full mouth, heavy milk producer for her calves, good bone and very maternal.  She has had all live, unassisted births.

She comes when we whistle and will allow some pets with proper motivation (mainly alfalfa).

Picture taken a few weeks ago (the day she was turned out on grass) and as you can see she held weight really well coming off the winter and just started on weaning her heifer (who is now weaned).  Her dam calved until she was 18 so this girl has a long productive life ahead of her.

Naturally polled
Often times beef cattle are difficult to manage because of their disposition.  Murray Greys are well known for being gentle.  Boulder's owner says that he has the disposition of a labrador.
Not a mini by any means, these cows are typically 1000 - 1500 lbs and bulls 1800 - 2500 lbs.
Developed in Austrailia in 1905 - 1918 by breeding a roan Shorthorn cow with black Aberdeen Angus bulls.  The grey calves from that original cow were favored in the predominately Angus area.
Colors, colors, colors...
Purebred Murray Grey cattle can range from light silver (Cleo) to black in color.  White patches above the belly disqualify purebred animals from registration.  The skin is dark (see the nose)-- which helps prevent eye and nose cancers.
Registered Percentage Murray Grey cattle can be any color.  One parent must be registered to qualify for registration. A 7/8 Murray Grey can qualify for purebred registration if they qualify with all the color and skin requirements.
